ABOUT US

Chautauqua Isle of Lights was founded in 1999 by a group of People headed by Bob Severance who wanted to create a Christmas Light Extravaganza housed inside the Chautauqua Park which is partially surrounded by the Solomon River. At this time there was50 displays it has grown to 291 displays with 500 total pieces. The main change in the last 24 years has been replacement of the old lighting to LED. LED lighting provides a very Brillant light and also makes the repairs easier. LED lighting is more cost effective. The electric bill which is paid by the city was 2/3 less with LED lighting. We appreciate all of the support from the surrounding communities and Beloit. Locally we have help from the Vocational College, City Departments, Nutrien, 1st Bank Beloit, Solomon Valley Bank as well as many other groups, business and individual. BJSH 7th and 8th graders adopted the Isle of Lights as a community service project, led by the teachers, Step Liton, Kyle Bisner and Casey Seyfert. This group spends a full day setting up the lights. The displays are up from Thanksgiving to New Year's.
The lights and garland downtown Beloit are provided by the Isle of Lights. Court house and municipal building lights are maintained also by the Isle of Lights. Repairs on the Snowflakes located on 8th street are repaired by The Isle of lights.
In the past we have operated on Gate donations with inflation over the past years this has become more of a challenge. We are hoping with the growth and matching funds from the foundation we can continue to repair and replace the light for years to come. We thank you for any support you care to extend. May all your Christmases be blessed and very bright.
