How It Works

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Give to Grow is a brand-new initiative and there's a lot to it. So, to ensure donors and non-profits alike know exactly what to expect we've created a list of our top asked questions. We hope this helps, but if you still have questions feel free to reach out. We'd love to walk you through it!

What is Give to Grow?

Give to Grow is a one-day matching event organized by the Solomon Valley Community Foundation, aimed at empowering Mitchell County non-profits. Designed to boost the long-term capacity of organizations, the event focuses on growing endowments through matching donations. In addition to financial support, Give to Grow provides a platform for non-profits to network, share their missions, and increase visibility.

As a result of a successful November Match Month campaign, and with the support of the Patterson Family Foundation, SVCF has set aside $25,000 in matching funds for qualifying Mitchell County non-profits participating in this year's Give to Grow.

When & Where?

The Give to Grow event is set for:

WHEN: April 24, 2024

WHERE: Beloit Municipal Building, 119 N Hersey Ave

TIME: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Donors who wish to donate online or by mail can do so anytime from Monday, April 22nd to Midnight on April 24th.  For more information on making a donation visit Ways to Give

How It Works: Donors

Donors select organization endowment(s) to support in person at the Give to Grow event on April 24th or by mail or online anytime between April 22nd and midnight on the 24th. Gifts will be added to the principal of the selected organization's endowed fund at SVCF and are restricted to the 5% spendable rule.

Donor gifts will be matched proportionally, up to 100% from SVCF's $25,000 matching pool. No single organization can receive more than half of the total match.

There is no minimum donation amount. Gifts will be matched up to $1,500 per person per organization or $3,000 per household.

How it Works: NonProfits

Qualifying Mitchell County non-profits register to be a part of the Give to Grow event.

They receive gifts from donors which are matched by SVCF proportionally up to 100% from a matching pool of $25,000.

Gifts from donors are automatically added to the principal of their endowed fund. However, organizations may choose how to receive their matching dollars earned:

  • Option 1: Cash grant for immediate use. Only applicable if the fund has a balance of $10,000 or higher.

  • Option 2: Invest it into the organization's fund at SVCF.

Who Can Participate?

Mitchell County non-profits who qualify to receive a match must hold either an Organization, Designated, or Field of Interest fund with Solomon Valley Community Foundation. A participation agreement is required to register for the event. For more information on becoming a qualified non-profit contact SVCF's Executive Director, Julia Rabe

What Is An Org. Fund?

Organization Funds offer a simple and efficient way for nonprofits to build capacity and provide long-term support for their missions. Org. Funds are comprised of both an endowed and non-endowed account. The non-endowed account has no restrictions, while the endowed account is restricted to the current spending policy, or 5% of a 16-quarter rolling average.

An Organization Fund might be right for you if:

  • You are a 501c3 nonprofit or church.

  • If you want to provide your organization with a permanent source of revenue for financial sustainability.

  • Need a simple and efficient way to manage an endowment so that you can focus on your mission and day-to-day operations.

  • If you want more giving options for your donors who wish to include you in their estate gifts.
